Review: Scandalous by Night by Barbara Pierce

Scandalous by Night by Barbara Pierce

After an extended bout of reading erotica and paranormal titles, I was looking forward to taking a break and heading back in time with “Scandalous by Night” by Barbara Pierce, a historical romance from St. Martin’s Press. This is certainly a passionate novel for a historical, set in the early 1800s in England. It’s a tale of wickedness, villainy, and revenge. A young man seduced and betrayed by his own loved ones and a young woman, alone and easily deceived. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Unfortunately for me, the ‘hero’ wasn’t very heroic and if I had been the heroine, I’d have kicked his butt from England to the Continent and never allowed his return.

Review: Seduce Me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas

Seduce Me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas

It has been years since I have read a Lisa Kleypas novel. I admittedly get stuck on a certain type of genre at times and honestly stopped reading historical novels for a while. When I had the opportunity to read Seduce Me at Sunrise I jumped at the chance. Knowing that I have loved Lisa’s books in the past, I wondered if the magic was still there. It is. I had forgotten the lyrical way she tells a story. I forgot her addictive storylines and her unbelievably tortured, sexy heroes. What was wrong with me? I am so glad I read this book. I simply loved every moment of it.

Reckless by Saskia Walker

Erotic romances are one of my favorite genres to read. When you add some really good suspense, well-written characters and some hot romance it just doesn’t get much better than that. In Reckless, Saskia Walker delivered everything I love in a good erotic romance and more. I literally sat down and read this book in one sitting. Ms. Walker knows how to please a reader with her strong, sexy heroes and her fast-paced storylines.

Wanton by Noelle Mack

When I started reading Wanton by Noelle Mack, I admittedly had high expectations. Being introduced to The Pack of St. James in Wild, the first book in this series, I really enjoyed the world Noelle Mack created. When it comes to writing relationships, especially between intermediate families, Ms. Mack can really get to the heart of things. I can honestly say that I really enjoyed reading Wanton. It is a very fast-paced read filled with suspense and sensuality that won’t be denied between the main characters.

Hard to Get by Alyssa Brooks

What would you do if you were in the middle of your sister’s bachelorette party and the stripper you hired for the main entertainment ended up being your ex-boyfriend dressed in chaps and nothing else? The novel Hard to Get by Alyssa Brooks starts out with this premise and it immediately grabbed my attention and never let go.

Review: Any Given Doomsday by Lori Handelhand

Any Given Doomsday by Lori Handeland

I’m a sucker for the paranormal. The first adult-book I read was “The Exorcist” by Blatty when I was eleven and I was hooked. So the recent upswing in paranormal and urban fantasy romance titles has been my own little heaven and I jumped at the chance to read “Any Given Doomsday” by Lori Handeland. I’m already a reader of her ‘Moon’ series about werewolves and werewolf hunters, so I expected to enjoy this book. I was right. I absolutely devoured “Any Given Doomsday” in one sitting and am now pouting because book two, “Doomsday Can Wait,” won’t be out until May 2009! Bummer!

Review: Out of Time by Samantha Graves

Out of Time by Samantha Graves

I haven’t seen the new Indiana Jones movie yet, but I have seen the TV ads, fast-food promotions, and seen various other promotional products in every aisle at Target.  So perhaps I’ve been subconsciously influenced by all the advertising, but Samantha Graves’ new book, Out of Time, strongly reminded me of an Indiana Jones storyline with a romantic twist.  Except, of course, with a hero that’s a little bit more of a bad boy than Indy’s academic background.

Pitch Black by Susan Crandall

“Pitch Black” is a very well-written and intricate murder mystery with a sexy Sheriff thrown in for good measure. Susan Crandall has crafted an unsettling and frightening look at what might lurk behind appearances in a small Southern town in America.

Review: Twice Loved by Lori Copeland

Twice Loved by Lori Copeland

I haven’t read a novel written by Lori Copeland in a long time. I have always enjoyed the historical novels she had written years ago. When I heard she was writing more Christian-based romances, I thought I would eventually give them a try. Admittedly, I don’t read a lot of this kind of romance but when I was offered to read Twice Loved (Belles of Timber Creek), I immediately jumped at the chance. I wanted to see if I would get as involved with the characters as I had with her novels written prior to this genre. I wasn’t disappointed. Once again, Lori has written a story with very human characters that are easy to relate to and care about.

Review: Magic in His Kiss by Shari Anton

Magic in His Kiss by Shari Anton

I was really anxious to read Magic in His Kiss. Lately, I have been pining to read a really good medieval romance. I do have difficulty getting into these types of romances because they can be slower-paced for me and I sometimes lose interest in them quickly. I can honestly say that Magic in His Kiss by Shari Anton grabbed my interest from the first page and held it until the last. Filled with adventure, passion, and romance, I quickly read this book and was very sorry for it to end!
